The Royal Hotel stands at the very heart of the Lake District town of Kirkby Lonsdale. The historic architecture of the town is predominately Georgian and Victorian and very attractive it is too.
But it is really brought to life by the individual shops, boutiques, cafes and pubs housed within. The atmosphere and ambience created is quite unique. There’s a kind of bustling contentment about the town that would appear to be highly contagious.
Kirkby Lonsdale itself stands on the banks of the River Lune, important historically and aesthetically but not too important when you are trying to find us by car!
More importantly nowadays is that Kirkby Lonsdale stands on the A65, the main East to West road running across the country linking Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria. The M6 lies approximately six miles to the West of Kirkby Lonsdale and therefore makes life very easy for those coming from both the North and South. All you have to do is come off at Junction 36 and follow the signs. It couldn’t be easier.
